A private driver in Amalfi is the simplest way to reach the town with luggage. Amalfi sits in the middle of the coast road, roughly halfway between Positano and Salerno, and has no railway station. From Naples airport you would otherwise combine a bus or train with the SITA coast bus, which fills up in summer, or a ferry that depends on the sea. With a driver you go door to door.
From Naples the drive takes about 80 to 120 minutes. Online, the transfer from Naples to Amalfi or Ravello costs €180 for 1–2 guests. We also drive from Amalfi to Sorrento, Positano, Pompeii, Salerno station, Naples airport and Rome, so the same driver can take you on to your next stop.

Where the car stops
Cars stop on the seafront at Piazza Flavio Gioia, at the entrance of the old town, next to the bus terminal and the ferry pier. The main street up to the cathedral is mostly pedestrian, so for hotels inside the old town the driver stops there and helps with the bags. Hotels on the coast road towards Atrani or Positano can be reached at the door.
Good to know
- Parking in Amalfi is scarce and expensive in season, one more reason to arrive with a driver rather than a rental car.
- Ravello is about 20 minutes up the hill from Amalfi, Positano about 35 to 45 minutes along the coast in normal traffic.
- In season, ferries connect Amalfi with Positano, Capri, Salerno and Sorrento.
