A private driver in Positano solves the hardest part of a stay in the village: getting there and away with luggage. Positano is built straight up the cliff and much of it is stairs. The SITA bus stops on the main road above the village, ferries depend on the season and the sea, and taxis are not always easy to find in high season. A driver takes you from the airport, the station or your previous hotel to the closest point a car can reach to your door.
We drive both ways: into Positano when you arrive, and from your Positano hotel to Naples airport, the train station, the port or Rome when you leave. Transfers between Positano, Sorrento, Praiano, Amalfi and Ravello are short and work well when you change hotel halfway through the trip.

Where the car stops
Cars drive through Positano on a one-way loop, down Viale Pasitea and back up Via Cristoforo Colombo, and can stop near Piazza dei Mulini. Below that point the lanes to the beach and the ferry pier are pedestrian. Many hotels are on the loop itself, so the car stops at the entrance; for the others, the driver stops at the nearest point and helps with the bags.
Good to know
- In July and August the coast road is busy, especially late in the morning and late in the afternoon. For a flight, leave with some margin.
- In season, ferries leave from the pier on the main beach for Amalfi, Capri and Sorrento, a short walk down from where the car stops.
