Pompeii on its own or as a stop on your transfer, with the car waiting outside and your luggage on board.
A private driver to Pompeii fits the visit into your day without trains or tours. The ruins lie on the way between Naples and Sorrento, so you can see them on their own or as a stop on a transfer. The site is large: allow at least two to three hours. While you walk, the car waits and your luggage stays inside, which matters because large bags are not allowed in the archaeological park.
The most popular combination is a stop at Pompeii on a transfer from Rome or Naples to Sorrento. The price depends on the waiting time, and we confirm it in writing before you book. From Sorrento, Positano or Amalfi we also drive guests to Pompeii and back for a half day.

Good to know
- In summer there is little shade inside the site: bring water and a hat, and start early if you can.
- Herculaneum is smaller and closer to Naples, and can be combined with Pompeii in one long day.
- A licensed guide can be booked for you on request; the guide is paid on site.
Questions travellers ask
Can our luggage stay in the car while we visit Pompeii?
Yes. The car waits for you, so you do not need a left-luggage service. Large bags are not allowed inside the site.
How long should we plan for Pompeii?
At least two to three hours for the main streets, the Forum and a few houses. Half a day if you want to see more.
Can we stop at Pompeii on the transfer from Rome to Sorrento?
Yes, it is the most common request. Tell us when you book and we include the waiting time in the written price.
