Arriving by train, by ship or after a few days in Naples? Go straight from the city to your Sorrento hotel without the Circumvesuviana.
How it works

- Receive a written confirmation with the meeting point.
- Meet your driver with a name sign at the station, the port or your hotel lobby.
- Drive along the bay past Vesuvius and onto the Sorrento coast road.
- Drop-off at your door in Sorrento, with help for the luggage.
More details
A Naples to Sorrento transfer picks you up wherever you are in the city, Napoli Centrale station, the cruise terminal, the Molo Beverello ferry pier or your hotel, and takes you to the door of your accommodation in Sorrento. In normal traffic the drive takes about 60 to 80 minutes along the coast past Vesuvius and then the Sorrento coast road.
Many travellers arrive at Napoli Centrale on a high-speed train from Rome, Florence or the north and then face the last leg: the Circumvesuviana local train, which leaves from a separate station level, is often crowded and has almost no room for suitcases. With a private transfer the driver meets you at an agreed point in the station with a sign with your name and walks you to the car. Send your train number when you book and the pickup follows any delay.
Arriving by cruise ship or ferry? The cruise terminal and Molo Beverello are next to each other in the port of Naples. Your driver waits by the exit of the terminal or the pier. If you are staying in a hotel in Naples before moving on, you are collected in the lobby at the time you choose.
Tell us how many people and how many suitcases there are so the vehicle has room for everything, and ask for child seats or boosters if you need them; they are available on request. If you would like a stop on the way, for example a pizza in Naples before leaving or a viewpoint above the bay, just say so. In Sorrento you are dropped at the door, or at the nearest point a car can reach if your hotel is in the pedestrian part of the old town.
Other ways to make this trip
| Option | Time | Good | Less good |
|---|---|---|---|
| Private transfer | about 60–80 min | Door-to-door pick-up · Fixed price agreed in advance | Costs more than public transport |
| Circumvesuviana train | About 70 minutes | Cheap, with frequent departures. | Often crowded, few seats in summer, almost no luggage space, and you still need to reach your hotel from Sorrento station. |
| Hydrofoil from Molo Beverello | About 40 minutes at sea | Fast and scenic. | Timetable depends on season and weather; you need to get to the pier and, in Sorrento, up from the harbour to the town. |
| Taxi | About 60–80 minutes | Available at ranks outside the station and port. | For destinations outside Naples, agree the fare before leaving. |
| Rental car | About 60–80 minutes, plus pick-up time | Freedom for day trips. | Naples city traffic, restricted zones and scarce, expensive parking in Sorrento. |
Questions travellers ask
Where will the driver meet us at Napoli Centrale?
At an agreed point inside the station, which we confirm in writing before you travel. The driver holds a sign with your name and follows your train if it runs late.
Can you collect us directly from our cruise ship?
Yes. Send the ship name and date. The driver waits outside the cruise terminal exit in the port of Naples.
Is the train or the hydrofoil a better choice than a transfer?
If you travel light and on a budget, both work and cost less. A transfer is worth it with heavy luggage, children, a late arrival, or when the sea is rough and hydrofoils are cancelled.
Can we stop for lunch in Naples before leaving?
Yes, tell us when you book. The driver can collect you after lunch or plan a short stop on the way.
